How to Cook a Whole Chicken in a Slow Cooker

April 24, 2012 By Whitney Love Leave a Comment

Learn how to cook a whole chicken in a slow cooker! Prep time is 5 minutes, then “set it and forget it”. Makes cooking a homemade, wholesome meal easy-and saves your sanity in the process.
**Slow cookers are sold in Norway under the brand name “CrockPot” and available at Jernia brick-and-motar stores or Jernia’s online store.

You will need:
1 large slow cooker, coated with non-stick cooking spray on the inside
1 uncooked chicken (2.2-3 lbs.)
1 Tbsp paprika powder (regular or smoked)
1 Tbsp curry powder (any)
1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper (optional but spicy)
1 1/2 tsp onion powder
2 Tbsp garlic powder or 3 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 tsp salt (you can also use 1/4 tsp if you like less salt)
1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper

**If you don’t want to use curry powder, omit it and add an additional 1 Tbsp. paprika powder
