Video: Norwegian Food: My Secret Weapon – Norwegian Smoked Sardine Paste

July 16, 2012 By Whitney Love 1 Comment

This recipe is what I call my “secret weapon” because it gives everything that “ummmm…that’s interesting….what is that” flavor. I use it as a taste enhancer in mayo, soups, stews, marinades, sauces and several other foods and dishes.
All of the ingredients are sold in every grocery store in Norway.
Ingredients
1 tin lightly smoked sardines including the oil, such as King Oscar Brand
½ cup/125 ml extra virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon salt

Whitney helped me make this for our shrimp party, we added it to mayo and it gave the ultimate umamai flavor! Thanks for the tip. 🙂
